Section 01
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit a website. They're widely used to make websites work properly and to understand how a site is being used.
Cookies aren't programs and can't carry viruses or install anything harmful. They simply store a small piece of information — often a preference or a technical identifier — that a website can read on your next visit.
| Cookie Type | What It Means |
|---|
| Session cookie | Temporary — deleted automatically when you close your browser |
| Persistent cookie | Stays on your device for a set period, to remember something across visits |
| First-party cookie | Set directly by this website |
| Third-party cookie | Set by a service used on this site, such as the contact form provider |
Section 02
Cookies Used on This Site
This website is kept deliberately simple, and that's reflected in how few cookies it uses.
Strictly necessary cookies that keep basic site functionality working — for example, security protections on the contact form. These don't store anything that identifies you personally, and can't be switched off while using the site.
The contact form on this site is handled by Formspree, a third-party service. Formspree may use minimal technical cookies to process the submission securely and to filter spam. This only applies if you actually use the contact form — it isn't set just by browsing the site.
See Formspree's own privacy policy at formspree.io
for how they handle this.
This website does not currently use Google Analytics or any similar tool to track visitor numbers or behaviour. If that changes in future — for example, to understand which pages are most useful — this policy will be updated first, and any such cookies will only be set with your consent.
No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies are used at all. Nothing on this site follows you to other websites, and your browsing here is never sold or shared with advertisers.
Section 03
Your Consent
Because this site currently uses only essential cookies and a contact form (which only sets anything when you actively choose to use it), there's no separate cookie consent banner in place — there's nothing optional to ask permission for yet.
If analytics or any other non-essential cookies are introduced in future, a consent request will be added at that point, and you'll be able to accept or decline before anything optional is set.
Section 04
How to Manage Cookies
Even though this site keeps things minimal, you can still view, block, or delete any cookies through your browser settings at any time:
Blocking essential cookies may stop the contact form working correctly. Since no analytics or optional cookies are currently in use, there's nothing else to opt out of at this time.
Section 05
Third-Party Services
This website relies on the following outside services:
| Service | Provider | Purpose | Privacy Policy |
|---|
| Google Fonts | Google LLC | Loads the Poppins typeface used across the site | View → |
| Formspree | Formspree, Inc. | Processes and delivers messages sent through the contact form | View → |
I have no control over cookies set by these services once you interact with them directly. Their own privacy policies apply to how they handle that data.
Section 06
Legal Basis for Using Cookies
The use of cookies on this site is governed by the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR.
- Essential cookies — used on the basis of legitimate interest in running a functioning website. Consent isn't required, as these are strictly necessary.
- Any future non-essential cookies — would only ever be set with your clear consent, which you could withdraw at any time.
My full approach to personal data more broadly is set out in the Privacy Policy
.
Section 07
Changes to This Policy
This Cookie Policy may be updated if the website changes — for example, if analytics or any new tools are introduced. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be changed whenever that happens.
Any significant change affecting how your data is used will also be reflected in the Privacy Policy
.
